Description:
- You can enjoy making music with the DIY electronic piano kit which lets you build a 555 Timer IC powered piano with push buttons. The piano can play different notes using a 16-ohm 0.25W speaker. This project teaches you the physics behind sound. It covers how sound is produced using electronic components, capacitors, resistors and the way frequency is controlled in a circuit.
- 1 x 555 Timer IC - Used as the main part for generating the tone
- 1 x 16-ohm 0.25W Mini Speaker - Used to generate sound
- 7 x Push Buttons (Tactile Switch) - To each piano note
- 1 x Large Breadboard - For the complete piano circuit
- 1 x 9V Battery - Supply for the piano
- 1 x 9V Battery Connector - Used for snap on connectors to the battery
- 7 x 15mm length Hard Jumper Wires - Used from the buttons to the speakers
- 7 x 1KΩ Resistors - For each key as current limiters
- 1 x 104pF Ceramic Capacitor - For the timing control
- 1 x 10μF 63V Electrolytic Capacitor - For the smoothing output
- 1 x 15KΩ Resistor - Used together with the capacitors to control the frequency
- 1 x Node Sticker Set - Used for C, D, E, F, G, A, B stickers for labelling the piano keys
- The 555 Timer IC is used in sound frequency generation in the piano. Use of each of the seven buttons applies a 1KΩ resistor to the circuit, changing the tone frequency. When voltage is supplied to the circuit using the button, the voltage sound corresponding to the tone is amplified by the speaker.
